In the heart of Cap d'Agde, the last remnant of the Auvergne volcanic range, CAPES Plongée invites you to explore a unique underwater heritage. From volcanic drop-offs to Mediterranean wildlife and iconic dive sites, every dive is an invitation to marvel at and discover exceptional biodiversity.

From 3 to 12 meters : Les Tables

Formed nearly 900,000 years ago, Les Tables are the remains of an ancient volcano that has been extinct for about 750,000 years. Shaped over millennia by the sea and sand, they owe their name to their distinctive landforms. Erosion has gradually submerged them, leaving behind a spectacular underwater landscape.
This site consists of vast slabs of volcanic tuff—formed from compacted ash—crisscrossed by numerous faults, caves, and overhangs. These natural shelters are home to a particularly rich variety of Mediterranean flora and fauna, making Les Tables one of Cap d’Agde’s most iconic sites.
Located in shallow waters between the estuaries of the Thau Lagoon and the Hérault River, the site benefits from a constant supply of light and nutrients. These conditions foster the growth of abundant sessile flora, which serves as a refuge and food source for many marine species.
During your dive, you’ll be able to spot conger eels, sars, saupes, mostelles, oblades, and, with a little luck, many other inhabitants of the Mediterranean’s volcanic seabed.

Sites between 2 and 10 meters

Ideal for first-time divers and beginners, the dive sites—ranging from 2 to 10 meters in depth—offer perfect conditions for discovering diving in a relaxed atmosphere.
Among them, La Lauze, La Panne à Guy, La Conque, and the area around Fort Brescou captivate visitors with their landscapes shaped by the volcanic rock of Cap d’Agde. These formations, rich in faults and crevices, provide a prime habitat for an exceptionally abundant array of Mediterranean flora and fauna.
Easy to access and bathed in light, these sites allow you to observe a wide variety of species while enjoying excellent visibility. They offer an ideal setting to learn to dive, regain confidence, or simply admire the treasures of the Cap d’Agde coastline.
